Activity #1: “The Jim Crow Laws” The web quest will direct each Student to The Jim Crow Museum with direct, with clear instructions on how to complete activity one at this website. At this website they will research the history and the actual Jim Crow Laws. After they complete this research they will answer a worksheet. The worksheet will ask students thought provoking questions that allow them to think about Jim Crow Laws personally, as well as the implications and repercussions of living under the harsh restrictions of these laws. * Students do not require prior knowledge of the Jim Crow Law in order to complete this task.

Activity #2: Personal Narratives The web quest will direct each Student to the PBS- The Rise and Fall of Jim Crow website with clear instructions on how to complete activity one at this website. At this website each student will have to read a personal narrative of an individual who experiences and survived the strict Jim Crow Laws. After they have read a personal narrative they will have to complete a worksheet that will ask students personal questions about each narrator. These questions will allow them to humanize the victims, think about Jim Crow Laws personally as well as begin to make emotional connections with the surviving African Americans. * Students do not require prior knowledge of the Jim Crow Law in order to complete this task.

At this website each student will have to listen to a personal narrative of an individual who experiences and survived the strict Jim Crow Laws. After they have listened to a personal narrative they will have to complete personal response essay that will ask students to relate personally and emotionally to their chosen narrator. This response will allow them to relate to the African Americans who survived this era, think about Jim Crow Laws personally as well as begin to make emotional connections with the surviving African Americans. * Students do not require prior knowledge of the Jim Crow Law in order to complete this task.
